Lakeside Holiday Cottage
Lakeside Holiday Cottage at Brook Farm, is perched on a hillside overlooking our lakes and the surrounding wooded valley; it is a location that you are unlikely to ever forget. This five-star Cottage offers superb luxury accommodation, consisting of two double Bedrooms, both with en suite Bathroom, Kitchen, Living Room and Dining Room. Every facility is available including under-cover parking for two cars. Outside there is a “Crow’s Nest” deck area which is built into the hillside, with table, chairs and parasol. The views from the “Crow’s Nest” are quite outstanding, and undoubtedly among the most memorable in the Cotswolds.
The cottage is a part of what was once a long barn incorporating the original farmhouse, and – from the outside – the building’s heritage as a barn is clear to see today, but that is where the association ends, because the moment you arrive at the Cottage, you will have entered into another world, and our wonderful location will enchant you, such that it is often fully ten minutes before anyone opens the front door! When you do finally step into the Cottage, you will immediately feel at home with the traditional Cotswold cottage atmosphere, but you’ll be pleased to know that – while Lakeside is undoubtedly enchanting – it is also a thoroughly modern and efficient building.
Facilities
Heating is via an oil-fired boiler external to the Cottage, and the system is separately controllable in each Bedroom/Bathroom, and in the Living Areas. The Cottage also benefits from a whole-house Ventilation System, which is completely silent in operation, and which ensures condensation-free Bathrooms and fresh air throughout the building. Tap water is wonderfully pure spring-water, and so there is no need to bring bottled water with you.
Brook Farm
Brook Farm also operates as a small exclusive Trout Fishery. The fishing is available on a Syndicate Members basis only. For this reason,Cottage Guests are usually unable to walk around the lakes. The fishing activity is completely separate from the Cottage.
Badger Watching
Badger Watching has proven to be extremely popular with our Guests. As well as the many birds, roe deer, foxes and rabbits, we have a large population of badgers at Brook Farm and, if some peanuts are spread on the lawn right outside the Cottage, the badgers will almost certainly appear. Because the animals are used to the outside lights, we have the almost unique situation where they can be observed from the comfort of the Cottage Living Room.
Local Area
Cranham Village is located approx. 2 miles from the stunning village of Painswick, and is positioned on the famous Cotswold Way. The beautiful towns of Cheltenham Spa and Cirencester are close by. Lakeside Cottage offers the holiday Guest the unique feeling that you are totally isolated from the outside world, and yet we are only 10 minutes from the M5, and numerous Pubs, Restaurants and Places of Interest are all close by.
